Industry Application

Oil & Gas

Chloride-rich media, pressure and sour-service conditions shorten equipment life when grade selection is treated as substitution. 316L, 2205 or 2507 should be checked against project conditions before quotation.

Problem to Material Route

Chloride concentration, H2S partial pressure and operating temperature determine whether 316L holds or fails — the grade name alone is not a corrosion guarantee. Material selection should be verified against project conditions and applicable standards before order.

Duplex grades offer higher strength and better chloride resistance than 316L, but selection depends on actual service media, pressure rating and project standard. 2205 is often specified for offshore structural and piping work; 2507 is considered where chloride levels or temperatures push beyond duplex limits. For sour or H2S-bearing service, requirements should be checked against standards such as NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 — we can support documentation and material verification, subject to project scope.

Operating Risk

Pitting and crevice corrosion from chloride-rich produced water, stress corrosion cracking under H₂S exposure, high-cycle pressure fatigue, and inspection traceability requirements on critical components.

Operating Context

Industry Overview

In oil and gas operations, material performance directly impacts safety, uptime, and project economics. We operate in environments where failure is not an option—high-pressure reservoirs, sour gas exposure, offshore corrosion, and continuous thermal cycling all place severe demands on materials. From drilling and wellhead systems to pipelines, offshore platforms, and refinery units, material selection is critical to maintaining operational integrity. We supply stainless steels, including duplex grades, that meet API, ASTM, and NACE standards. Corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and long-term stability are essential for ensuring safe production and minimizing unplanned shutdowns. Every component we specify must contribute to system reliability across the full lifecycle—from upstream extraction to midstream transport and downstream processing.
