Industry Application

Aerospace

High-performance stainless steel designed for aerospace applications requiring extreme strength, heat resistance, and reliability.

Problem to Material Route

Aerospace components face combined loading — fatigue, elevated temperature and corrosion — and a grade that meets only one of the three criteria individually may still fail in service.

17-4PH is commonly specified for high-strength fasteners, fittings and structural brackets where strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance need to be achieved together. 321 is often used in exhaust and heat shield applications where sustained temperatures above 400°C rule out standard austenitic grades prone to sensitisation. 316L may be considered for non-flight-critical or lower-temperature hardware where formability and weldability are the primary requirements. Mechanical test reports and full heat number traceability are typically required for aerospace supply.

Operating Risk

Fatigue failure at stress concentrations under cyclic loading, sensitisation and intergranular corrosion at weld zones in high-temperature applications, strength degradation if incorrect heat treatment condition is supplied

Operating Context

Industry Overview

The aerospace industry demands materials that can perform under extreme conditions such as high temperatures, intense pressure, and corrosive environments. Our aerospace-grade stainless steel is engineered to meet these rigorous requirements. It is widely used in aircraft structures, jet engines, landing gear systems, and spacecraft components, where safety, durability, and performance are critical. With excellent mechanical strength, oxidation resistance, and long-term stability, our stainless steel supports both commercial aviation and space exploration applications.
